Insecurity

I keep reminding myself, over and over: “It happens every weekend, it happens every weekend.”  What happens every weekend, you ask?  The inevitable drop in my blog stats.  People getting lives over the weekend and abandoning blogging and reading blogs for those two days every week.  Or, in this case, for three days.  The drop this week actually started around Thursday, but yesterday and so far today have been my worst days yet.

It’s sad how much those stupid statistics can control my mood, especially as it relates to blogging.  On days like Tuesday when I beat my previous record by a substantial amount (you guys were super interested in finding out what I learned at that sonogram!), I feel like I’m floating on air the rest of the day.  I’m popular!  I have friends!  Who want to know everything about my life!  And then mere days later I stop getting comments.  And then traffic trickles down to less than half the visits I used to get on an average day–and so quickly after a record day, it looks even sadder on the graph.

I get the hint either way: no more posts about how much I hope this is a little girl…or not…or I don’t know what I want any more.  I’m getting as bored writing about it as you’re getting of reading it.  In the next few days I’m planning to get more belly shots (likely G-rated this time) for you, and maybe put up another PJ picture or two, and maybe even outline what I’m planning for the nursery to get advice and ideas from those of you who are much more right-brained than I.  Not that that’s hard.  I’m about as left-brained as they make them.  Is that worth coming back for?

I’m trying not to be insecure this weekend.  It is the weekend, after all, and you guys have every right to abandon my boring blog to live your exciting lives.  I’ll keep posting, as always, but I won’t let the blog stats get me down.  Instead I’ll brainstorm great ideas for posts for next week that will actually keep your interest.  So take your break, but please come back when you’re done.

My stats go way down on the weekends. I never realized how many people blog from work only. I’d love a job like that!
