A Different Priority

June 9, 2008

Gosh, I love this kid.  I’ve had all these different blog topics I’ve considered writing about over the last few days, and that’s all I can come up with right now.

It’s been a good morning with PJ.  He’s been super cuddly this weekend, and as that doesn’t happen very often, I’ve been taking advantage of it.  He’s talking more than ever, and I’m understanding so much of it.  I never quite anticipated how awesome it would be to hold actual conversations with my kid.

Then there was the middle-of-the-night encounter.  BabyN woke up crying, and when I put him back in bed a few minutes later, PJ was awake.  I gave him one last good-night kiss and told him, “Sleep tight.  See you in a little while.”

This morning when BabyN woke me up for breakfast, PJ was awake again.  It was early, so I left him in the room to hopefully catch a few more minutes of sleep.  As I was leaving, he told me, “Mm-mah [his expression for a kiss],  sleep tight.  See you in a little while.”  They were the exact words I’d told him at four this morning.

He was telling me he remembered our middle-of-the-night encounter and that it was special to him.

So I’m passing up on the numerous deep topics I could write about today so that I can spend a little more time with my sweet toddler.
